It’s been a few weeks since my last blog post, and I’d like to apologize to anyone who takes the time to read (I’m not sure why you keep coming back, but I’m glad you do). I’d also like to throw out a quick warning that this post will be a bit more personal than my normal routine.
Apologies and warnings aside, let’s get to the excuses on why my post is long overdue.
First, in February I started a new job as the Senior Online Communications Strategist for the University of Saskatchewan. It’s a new role that’s been developed to help lead, coordinate and advise on online communications issues. Although the exact details of what the job means are still to be determined, it will no doubt be an exciting challenge. For those of you on campus or working in higher education please stay tuned as I will be developing and launching a blog focused on my learning and progress.
Second, I just came back from a week at the Olympics where I was live vlogging and tweeting from the Saskatchewan Pavilion for the University of Saskatchewan. This trip was the highlight of my year as I got to be part of the Olympic excitement and meet so many cool people (I met the guy that designed the Olympic quarter! How cool is that?) The excitement at the Olympics was unreal, and the use of social media for live event promotion was a first for the University of Saskatchewan. If you’re interested check out http://www.usask.ca/2010
Finally, I became the President of the Kilpatrick Flyfishers Club in Saskatoon. We’re a group of over one hundred members who are dedicated to practicing and promoting fly fishing. The club is celebrating it’s 25th year; no small accomplishment for a non-profit club with such a niche focus. I’m looking forward to this role as it will be an awesome experience in helping to lead such a great tribe of people. If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to fly fish, check out http://www.kilpatrickflyfishers.com.
So, that’s it. That’s what I’ve been up to. Again, my apologies for the excuses. I look forward to getting back to my regular schedule soon!
